HE WAS A RHODES SCHOLAR AND A MEMBER OF THE WHITHOUSE FELLOWSHIP. HE SPOKE RUSSIAN AND SERVED AS AN INTERPATER ON MATTERS OF NATIONAL SECURITY. HE WAS THE YOUNGEST OFFICER EVER PROMOTED TO ADM, AND SERVED AS CO VAVBASE PEARL HARBOR. HE RETURNED TO PEARL HARBOR AS CINPACFLT AND RETIRED A 4 STAR ADM.

And yes, he did try to water ski behind the ship.
